Malibu Houston Pro to showcase world class wakesurfing

World Class WakeSurfing - 2015 Malibu Houston Pro The WWA
Malibu Houston Pro – The WWA has hand selected the top six men and women wakesurfers in the world to compete for $25,000 in prize money, while showcasing the best skim and surf styles on October 2nd at the event.

The contest will showcase the world class surf wake behind the 25 LSV and the Malibu Surf Gate as well as the surf watch with Brian Grubb, Johnny Stieg, Parker Payne, Aaron Witherell, Grant Witherell and Noah Flegel who are all looking to take the crown and the lion’s share of the $15,000 purse.

“I’m so excited that Malibu is including wake surfing at the Houston Pro for the final stop of the WBWS,” said Stieg. “Their Integrated Surf Platform technology should make for an amazing wave and great contest.”

“I don’t do many boat surf contests, but I wouldn’t want to miss the first Malibu surf event behind the brand new 25 LSV,” said Grubb. “Being able to use the new Surf Band live while competing against the best in the world will be a glimpse into the future of competitive boat surfing.”

For the women, Jodi Grassman, Stacia Bank, Angie Viland, Caroline Villeneuve, Raya Walker and Raleigh Hager have all been invited to perform at the Malibu Houston Pro on the first day of competition as they compete for the $10,000 purse. For each group, the WWA is combing both surf and skim style wake surfing into one division where the riders will pick the surf style to they feel works best for them to perform and compete with.

The Malibu Houston Pro is part of the Wakeboard World Series (WBWS) and Wakepark World Series (WPWS). This is the final stop of both the WBWS and WPWS and it is looking to be the biggest with all three wakeboarding, wakepark and wakesurf divisions competing in three days.
