2015 Partisan of Yachting Regatta - Day 3 Icarus Sailing Media
Hello and welcome back to Bodrum, Turkey for day three of the Partisan of Yacthing Regatta. The event has moved venue for this year’s third edition and established its new home at Bodrum’s Milta Marina – a perfect venue for sailing events. The regatta attracts teams who are passionate about yacht racing – and the eight Russian teams feature a world-class line up of sailors.

Today marks the half way stage of the regatta, and every point counts in the leaderboard line-up. Teams were eager to get out and face the challenges of the race track.

The event format of two offshore and seven inshore races tests teams across all styles of racing. Consistency across what will be a wide range of weather conditions, maintaining boat handling and speed are crucial. Consistency on an ever changing race track is demanding – and against an impressive calibre of sailors. Teams feature many of Russia’s elite sailors - from the world of match racing, Olympic sailing, Volvo Ocean race and many of the world’s premier yachting events.

Amongst the big names are reigning Regatta Champion, Vlas Kadetov, who hails from a Russian sailing dynasty. A successful sailor and coach for 40 years, his proteges have gone on to win numerous world class events. A regular at premier events, winning bothHeineken Race Week and The Kings Cup, is Evgeniy Nikiforov, who also won last year’s Russian Open Match Racing Championship. Another force to be reckoned with is VladimirOleynikov, organizer of the Regatta. He has successfully competed in the Volvo Ocean Race and numerous big boat events around the world.

After a demanding day of racing, teams relaxed ashore, taking time to recharge their batteries. Join us again for more racing action tomorrow.
