It's neck and neck between Carlo Alberini and Franco Solerio in the J70 Eurocup at Riva del Garda - with a magnificent hat trick Alberini takes a two point lead over Solerio.

The final day is tomorrow with another three races scheduled for the morning.

The second day of the J70 Eurocup got under way today at Riva del Garda, this the final round of the J70 Alcatel One Touch Italian Trophy. Three more races were played out today under the usual beautiful afternoon conditions on Lake Garda with winds of 12-14 knots. With the discard introduced Carlo Alberini claimed three straight wins on Calvi Network to take the lead in the temporary standings with a two point lead over Franco Solerio on L'Elagain. The event which comprises of over thirty boats at Fraglia Vela Riva, saw a heated battle between Alberini and Franco Solerio which saw Alberini take the fastest time in today's first race then follow up by winning all three of today’s races. Franco Solerio (with Cassinari on tactics), held on to a good position by achieving a three – two - two-which wasn't enough to hold off Calvi Network from taking the lead. A heart stopping final is on the cards as only two points separate the two and with the wind from the north gusty and unstable tomorrow morning, the situation could very well change.

The bronze medal position is also being hard-fought as Ripard of Malta on Team Betsafe stripped Luca Domenici - with Nicola Celon on Notaro Team from their third place. Notaro Team was disqualified (which was then discarded), has no margin of error and is in fourth position three points behind the Maltese boat. Jacopo Carrain (with Enrico Fonda) on Carpe Diem put in a good effort coming within four points of a place on the podium.

Michele Galli on B2 with a well-known crew of Francesco De Angelis, Paolino Bassani and Flavio Grassi struggled to come through and stay in fourteenth place.

The final day is tomorrow with another three races scheduled starting 8.30 tomorrow morning. And as one event ends another is about to start at Fraglia Vela Riva with “pre -worlds “for the Musto Skiff World Championships in the next two days.
