LaserPerformance Collegiate Cup – Congratulations to the USA Women’s ICSA All-Star team who locked in the win at the first ever LPCC! Seven countries, eight teams, nearly 80 sailors, and five days of fun on and off the water help round up the inaugural 2015 LPCC at the Yale Corinthian Yacht Club.

Coming off of an incredible week on the Long Island Sound with fantastic conditions, the teams are still buzzing about the exciting moments the LPCC provided.

“Thank you LaserPerformance for making these last four days incredible. It was truly amazing to be exposed to such a diverse crowd of sailors, all with the same underlying goals: to get out on the water and have fun. A special thank you to Anna Tunnicliffe for helping us every step of the way!” – Team France

The LPCC is truly a unique learning opportunity and event experience for university aged sailors to train at the top level, meet friends from around the world, and improve skills at a different world class sailing venue each year. Over the course of the week, with assistance and motivation from top coaches, Olympic Gold Medalist and the LPCC Event Ambassador Anna Tunnicliffe, sailors tuned their skills at an accelerated rate in Yale’s fleet of LaserPerformance Z420s.

The eight teams offered a wide range of diverse sailing backgrounds, which made for exciting sailing from day one. Each year, the LPCC will grow and travel to new sailing venues around the world.

2015 LPCC impressions from the sailors:

“This is the first time we have competed against sailors from around the world. Great experience.” - Team France

“Our Team in Ireland is working to expand a bit and we’re hoping to compete again in Italy. Thanks to Yale they have amazing boats and allows us to do so much more” – Team Ireland

“They did a great job of emphasizing the social aspect of sailing. It was a really nice feel to meet the folks and be able to sail with them” – Team Canada

“We come from far away and this is my first time team racing. We started from zero and we get better and better, race by race” – Team Oman

“We’ve had good breeze anywhere from five up to 14 knots the last couple days, flat water and shifty up to choppy and wavy so it’s giving the sailors a broad range of conditions” – Anna Tunnicliffe

“As a team we feel like we have really good boat speed, we’ve had a lot of experience in the Z420 and we can sail fast!” – TEAM USA Women’s ICSA All-star team

Final Results:
1. USA – ICSA Women’s All-star team: 151 points
2. USA – Yale: 157 points
3. Japan: 209 points
4. Italy: 316 points
5. Oman: 326 points
6. Ireland: 345 points
7. Canada: 415 points
8. France: 421 points

LaserPerformance thanks the event partners, supporters, volunteers, coaches, and Yale Sailing, the 2015 host venue, for making the LPCC a special experience down to every detail.
