J/24 Worlds - GBR's Southworth leads after four races

The J/24 World Championship has started with two races on Monday 31st August in light to medium winds. The races were won by two German teams, but at the end it was Fumiya Kato (JPN 4886) from Japan who was number one on the list followed by Ian Southworth (GBR 5219) from Great Britain and Ignazio Bonanno (ITA 416) from Italy.
After racing the German competitor Frank Schönfeld invited all crews to a Mount Gay Rum-Party where the whole J/24 fleet fighted against 60 bottles of best Barbados Rum. The fleet won.
Day two started with a stronger sea breeze of about 20 knots and nearly all teams changed to the class jib. Ian Southworth dominated this race followed by the Greek competitor Iasonas Spanomanolis (GRE 5441) and Mike Ingham (USA 5443) with the current J/24 World Champion Will Welles calling tacktics. Race four was won by Mike Ingham followed by Ian Southworth and Stefan Karsunke (GER).

4. Travis Odenbach (USA) - 38 pt

7. Peer Kock (GER) - 51 pt
8. Javier Arribas Harten (PER) - 55 pt
9. Ignazio Bonanno (ITA) - 56 pt
10. Rodrigo Benedetto (ARG) - 56 pt
Tomorrow on day three we expect two to three races in strong winds with 25 to 30 knots. In the evening will be a J/24 class dinner.
