2015 Etchells Lobster Bowl Regatta – Let the fun begin! Our weekend of Drinking Local Microbrews, Eating Lobster, and Sailing Wicked Fast is just around the corner! The third annual regatta is scheduled for September 25, 26, and 27. The event is being hosted by Portland Yacht Club and the organizing authority is Etchells Fleet27.

Registration is now open through Regatta Management Systems, whose website can be reached at website. Just click on the calendar and scroll down till you find the event. The NOR is posted under the info tab for the regatta on the Regatta Management Systems site.

The registration fee for the event remains at $175 per boat and that includes two days of racing on Casco Bay, a Friday night Chili and Chowder opening ceremony/ welcome and introductions, a full blow Maine Lobster Dinner for the skipper and two crew members on Saturday night, an awards BBQ after racing on Sunday and lots of locally Micro brewed beer and soft drinks.

For out of town boats, launching with masts down will be provided at Handy Boat Services next door to the Yacht Club using a traditional Etchells single point lift. An additional fee of $100 is required for this service and includes pulling the boat after racing on Sunday. Ample dock space is available for stepping your mast after the boat is launched.

All boats entered will race and compete against each other, but the regatta will also feature a Heritage Division for all Etchells whose hull number is 900 or below and are sailing on their original, unmodified or updated keels. This division will compete for the beautiful 'Dave White' perpetual trophy as well as awards for the second and third place finisher in the division. A Corinthian award will also be presented to the boat with the best overall finish with skipper and all crew who have ISAF category one status.

The organizers are expecting a fleet of 20 to 30 boats for the event. With a little luck maybe even more with a good mix of local Fleet 27 sailors and boats travelling from away. The goal of the Lobster Bowl has always to be a fun, affordable event which features great racing on the beautiful waters of Casco Bay. This year promises to be better than ever. Register now and we will see you in beautiful Falmouth Maine the end of September.

Fortune favours the Beneteaus!
Thank you, Huey… Some sun, and a tad of wind means it is time to go racing... Ahead of the annual Beneteau Pittwater Regatta by Flagstaff Marine the weather had not been all that grand. So, peaks of sun migrating to distinct patches, and the occasional zephyr turning into a waft, then on to a calm breeze was fortunate.
