Laser Radial Youth Worlds - Day 4

2015 Laser Radial Youth World Championships - Day 4 SailingShot
Competitors completed one race on Day 4 of the Laser Radial Youth World Championships. The second scheduled race was cancelled due to light winds. Today was the last day of qualifying series, and tomorrow marks the first day of final series racing.
In the male division, Australia’s Conor Nicholas holds onto his lead for the fourth day in a row, placing fifth in today’s race. Nicholas sits only three points ahead of second place, Gianmarco Planchestainer of Italy, who received a bullet in today’s race. Canadian Matti Muru continues to climb the leader board, moving into third overall. Umberto José Varbaro, Italy, now sits in fourth, with Italian team mate Paolo Giargia in fifth.
Mária Érdi of Hungary continues to lead the female division. Dolores Moreira, Uruguay is tight on Érdi’s tail, sitting only two points behind in second. Italian Francesca Bergamo moves up to third after today’s race. Following Bergamo is Magdalena Kwasna Poland, and Carolina Albano Italy, in fourth and fifth respectively.
The male division flights will now be split into fleets of gold, silver and bronze. The gold fleet will consist of 48 competitors, and the silver and bronze fleets will consist of 47 competitors each. Racing continues daily until August 20th, with prize giving and closing ceremonies held at Portsmouth Olympic harbour following the final day’s racing.
