2015 Sail Canada Senior Championships – Day 1 overall

The Sail Canada Senior Championships at CORK OCR kicked off today, along side the Radial Youth World Championships, also hosted by CORK.

Despite some of the forecasts, the wind was steady and from the southwest, holding between eight and 12 knots.

On the skiff course all fleets sailed four races. In the 49er Trevor Parekh and Gord Cook (RStLY) are in first, with CST pair David Mori and Justin Barns (RCYC) close behind in second and Ryan Judge and Hans Henken (SDYC) in third. CST sailors Erin Rafuse and Danielle Boyd (RNSYS/KYC) are tied for first with Emily Dellenbaugh and Elizabeth Barry in the FX fleet, while Mayumi Roller and Agustina Barbuto sit third.

The I14 fleet is sailing their Canadian Championship as part of the event. The leaders after day one are Ian Struthers and Dan Cunningham in first, followed by Lauren Laventure and Jason Lemieux (RCYC) in second and John Curtis and Andrew Yates (KYC) in third.

In single-handed action all fleets sailed three races. CST teammates Evert McLaughlin (RCYC), Robert Davis (KYC/RCYC) and Matthew Ryder (SLYC) sit first, second and third respectively.

Brenda Bowskill (RCYC) leads the Radial fleet, with Sarah Douglas (RCYC) in second and Corinne Peters (RNSYS) in third. Finn sailor Kyle Martin (RVYC) has taken the lead in the Finn fleet, with Tom Ramshaw (SLYC) in second and Martin Robitaille (RCYC/CVL) sits third.

Racing continues tomorrow with racing scheduled for 11am.
