Nautique WWA National Championships – Pro wakeboarders shine in Miami

by World Wakeboard Association on 16 Aug 2015
Pro wakeboarders shine in Miami - 2015 Nautique WWA National Wakeboard Championships World Wakeboard Association
After awarding 37 Amateur National titles at the Nautique WWA National Championships presented by Rockstar Energy, the pros from the Wakeboard World Series (WBWS) and Wake Park World Series (WPWS) took to the water. For the WBWS riders, Miami marks the final stop of the Nautique Wake Series and they held nothing back behind the Super Air Nautique G23 as quarterfinal action got underway.

With the top two riders in the Junior Pro Men’s quarterfinal heat advancing to the semi-final the action on the water was impressive thanks to the incredible G23 wake. Robby Holihan, Tyler Higham and Cobe France all won their quarterfinal heats and will be joined in the semi-finals by Levy Watt, Bryson Hancock and Mac Schramm.

“We had some great conditions today,” said Higham. “I was able to put down a great run and now I’m thinking about getting through the semis to get to the finals on Sunday.”

The action didn’t stop there as the Men’s Professional quarterfinals were up to get behind the Super Air Nautique G23, where only one rider from each heat would advance. Team Nautique athletes Kyle Rattray, Bob Soven, Noah Flagal and Jimmy LaRiche were among the 12 that would move on to the next round.

“I had a blast riding today,” said Nautique’s Bob Soven. “The environment here at the new Miami Watersports Complex couldn’t be better. From the amazing wake of the Nautique Super Air G23 to hearing the fans cheer and music pumping, it all contributed to my win today.”

At the cable park, the riders were also putting on impressive runs with Shawn Watson, Brett Powell and Gavin Stuckey all moving on to the semifinals tomorrow.

The fourth day of the Nautique WWA National Championships continues tomorrow as the Pro riders will compete in their semifinals to get one step closer to a National Championship and the overall Nautique Wake Series title, while the final amateur classes will crown their champions.
