It is that time of year again, Kingston is getting busy and the boat park is filling up with youth sailors from around the country ready to hit the water and get out racing.

The 2015 Sail Canada Youth Championships Presented by Volvo are being held in conjunction with CORK International at Portsmouth Olympic Harbor in Kingston from ninth to thirteenth August. With over 350 youth sailors registered to compete in the 29er, Club 420, Laser, Radial, 4.7, 293 and RS:X fleets it is bound to be a great four days of racing.

The Sail Canada Youth Championships (U19) Presented by Volvo is the primary selection event for the upcoming 2015 Volvo ISAF Youth World Championships in Malaysia later this year. Qualifying is the goal for many of the sailors racing this week.

Ontario Sailing Team member Matti Muru is the one to watch in the Radial Fleet, as returning Canadian Youth Champion he will be sailing to defend his title in hopes of securing a spot for Malaysia.

In the 29er fleet Christina Black and Naomi Flanagan are sailing towards their goal of Youth Worlds along with fellow Kingston natives and 2014 Youth Champions Patrick Wilson and Arie Moffat racing in the Club 420. All teams have been training hard this season and are eager to get out on the water and compete.

The event kicks off with the opening ceremonies at Confederation Park in downtown Kingston Sunday evening at 7:30, followed by four days of racing and closing ceremonies and awards on Thursday, August 13th.
