PA Consulting Allen RS Feva World Championships - Day 3

2015 PA Consulting Allen RS Feva World Championships - Day 3 Eventstream Media
After an exciting evening last night enjoying buffet food on board the tall ship, ‘Passat’ and plenty of fun soaking up the atmosphere in town, sailors arrived to a hot and sunny morning at the PA Consulting Allen RS Feva World Championships. There was only one thing missing; Wind! Undeterred, competitors relished more time in the sun with their friends, splashing around in the water, lounging on the beach and flaunting their skills on the football pitch and volleyball court!

Eventually the wind arrived and as promised, sailors were sent out to the inshore media course where racing was streamed live online and on the big screen on the grandstand in town. Onlookers were able to get a close insight into the action on the water thanks to on board cameras fitted to selected boats on the race course, GPS tracking and commentary.

With today being the first day of Final series racing, all of the best sailors in the world were competing directly against each other for the first time this regatta. The pressure was on and the points were tight. Jack Lewis and Lucas Marshall (GBR) got off to a flying start to take the first win of the series. Meanwhile, Simonas Jersovas and Vejas Strelciunas (LTU), still relishing their glory of last night’s Nations Cup sprint racing, clinched third.

The second and final race of the day saw a short course so that the fleet remained compact, making it challenging to break away into clear wind. Swedish team, Hedvig Hedstom and Stina Langenius were among those to pop out in front, taking away a third place. Not far behind were Mattia Zinetti and Davide Carbonelli of Italy, who took fourth. It was a family affair at the front of the fleet, with the Armstrong brothers (GBR) taking the gun, just ahead of the Jameson brothers (GBR).

Arriving back ashore late, it was straight to the football pitch for sailors! Crowds gathered to watch and cheer on their nations in the five-a-side football tournament. The energy, passion and enthusiasm immersing the campsite was incredible, as families from all countries congregated to get involved in the action and relax in the warm evening sun.

Bring on another day in paradise tomorrow!
