Melges 20 Audi-Tron Sailing Series - Three times a king

by Joy Dunigan on 20 Jul 2015
Levi — Three Times A King - 2015 Melges 20 Audi-Tron Sailing Series Mauro Melandri / BPSE
Congratulations are in full order for now - three-time 2015 Audi-Tron Sailing Series winner Dario Levi on Fremito D'Arja along with tactician Niccolo Bianchi and crew members Stefano Lagi and Francesca Masotto. From the very start of this weekend's event in Porto Ercole, Levi and team laid down the law and stuck to the plan since Day One.

Agusta Corrado's Customly steadily improved his game to finish second overall, followed by first-time podium finisher Marco Franchini aboard Mezzaluna in third. Guido Miani's Out of Reach and Russia's Alexandr Ezhkov on Pirogovo Sailing completed the top five finishers for fourth and fifth.

Only one last race remained for Sunday and to no one's surprise, the very strong Russian team of Valentin Zavadnikov/Matteo Tenti on Synergy GT took final bullet honors. Corrado's persistence to chase Levi down in the overalls produced a second place finish in Race Six. Lauro Bonora's Camay captured a nice third place position.

The fourth act of the 2015 Audi-Tron Sailing Series is hosted by Circolo Nautico e della Vela Argentario, and organized by B.Plan Sport and Events (BPSE) in cooperation with Melges Europe.

The next stop for the European fleet is the European Championship taking place in Trapani on September 3-5.
