The 2015 Sail Canada Sail East Championships is being held at St. Margaret Sailing Club’s Bay Wind Regatta on July 16th - 19th in Glen Haven, Nova Scotia.

St. Margaret’s Sailing Club is no stranger when it comes to hosting big events on the windy St. Margaret’s Bay. SMSC hosted the 2009 Laser Standard and Laser Masters World Championships and the 2006 Laser North American Championships, along with the annual Bay Wind Regatta.

The two days of group training prior to the event will be run by guest coaches Danielle Dube, Mike Todd and Sarah Flanagan. This is a great opportunity for sailors from different clubs and teams to train with each other while getting coaching and tips from some of our nation’s best coaches.

Danielle Dube was a Canadian Sailing Team member in the Laser Radial, racing in over 6 World Championships and represented Canada at the 2012 London Olympics. After the Olympics Danielle retired from racing and has been coaching since. She is now the Nova Scotia Provincial Laser team coach.

Mike Todd has worked with many different classes including optimists, 420’s and Lasers. The former Nova Scotia Sailing team and LOOT Optimist team coach brings a great amount of experience and knowledge to the event. Mike also has Canada Games experience, having coached at the 2013 Canada Games.

Sarah Flanagan, originally from PEI, is a Sail Canada Development coach and coaches at The Waegwoltic Club in Nova Scotia. Sarah has Canada Summer Games experience as both a sailor and a coach. Sarah competed in the 29er at the 2003 games and went on to coach at the 2013 Canada Summer Games.

Guest coaches will run organized- on water training sessions for each class, group debriefs and practice races.

Do not miss this opportunity to learn at St. Margaret Sailing Club and compete at the 2015 Sail Canada Sail East Championships at The Bay and Wind Regatta.

The appeal of offshore
Is there still appeal? Have we made it too onerous? Why would someone take it up now? I had been pondering. Yes. Marquee events have no issue attracting entrants.
