Endorsements for the Hayman Regatta

Heaven Can Wait, there's another Hayman Regatta Andrew Leggett
The roots of this year’s Hayman Regatta stretch back to the mid 1990’s when the event was titled the ‘Big Boat Series’.
Those highly successful initial regattas are the foundation for the new Hayman Regatta.
Here are some of the endorsements the ‘Big Boat Series’ received over the years:
‘We haven’t been to a better regatta anywhere in the world’
Warwick Miller, owner, Exile
‘Does it get any better – great regatta, great harbour, great resort’
Iain Murray, World Champion Yachtsman
‘This series is the best of everything we’ve come to know over the years. It has the intimacy of Nioularge (France), the scenery of Sardinia, the breezes of Antigua and the challenges of the tides of Cowes. It’s the best’
Hugh Agnew, tactician, UK entry Aera
‘The best regatta I had been to was at the Aga Khan’s Costa Smeralda in Sardinia. This series is better’
Sir James Hardy, Commodore, Hayman Island Yacht Club
‘I’ve competed at every Big Boat Series since its inception. When you take into consideration every aspect of the event – especially the all-inclusive crew meal and accommodation packages – then the costs compare very favourably with other major regattas. The BIG PLUS on top of this is that you are enjoying great racing and some unique experiences at one of the world’s best Five Star resorts’
Wayne Millar, owner, yacht Zoe
‘I’m really looking forward to it. It’s a special event, unlike anything in Australia’
Geoff Ross, owner, yacht Yendys
‘It’s civilised – very much a family affair – just great camaraderie. My most vivid memory is racing among the whales. Where else in the world can you sail out of a resort harbour and immediately be surrounded by playful whales?’
Ian Treleaven, owner, yacht Line 7
‘It’s awesome. The level of the competition, the calibre of the sailors and the atmosphere around the entire series just leaves you stunned. When it comes to a presentation ceremony there’s nothing to compare with it. You sit under the palm trees and are treated to the world’s ultimate barbecue’
Steve Coates, crew
