Only a week to go until the RS300 and RS Vareo National Championships at Dovey Yacht Club in Wales. For many years the RS300s have had a competition within a competition: the team trophy for three boats from the same club.

Teams are being fielded by the title defender Down South SC (Emsworth and Thorney Island), Aldenham SC, Prestwick SC, and Sheffield Viking SC. Will the RS300s beat their record entry of 35 boats achieved last year?

For the first time this year the RS Vareos are introducing the Fidelis Trophy. This recognises the best performance outside the top prizes by a sailor who has competed in at least three RS Vareo Nationals previously. This trophy was successful last year in the RS300 fleet. There will be exciting competition for the first Lady Helm in the RS Vareo fleet this year.

The event starts on Thursday ninth July and concludes after 10 races with prize giving on Sunday 12 July. Two day entry is available if you can't make the full four days. There is still time to enter. For more information about RS300 click here and about RS Vareo click here.

Dovey Yacht Club is found in North West Wales, with stunning views over the Dovey Estuary. The club have planned a great mix of spectacular racing, delicious home cooked food, fully stocked bar and busy social schedule. Highlights include the Thursday quiz night and the Saturday night party featuring the Jenny Stevens Band.

Clare Sargent, on behalf of the RS300 and RS Vareo Class Association commented “The RS300 and RS Vareo Classes are really excited to be sailing at such a great venue as Dovey Yacht Club. The racing is set to be exciting and demanding, and the shoreside socials will be equally lively.”

Both fleets have benefitted from Volvo's generous win a car for your Nationals Competition. Prizewinners were drawn from those who entered and paid before the early discount deadline. This great competition is running for the other RS Class Association fleet National championships this summer. Take a look at the Volvo RS Affinity page for details on the fabulous deals you could drive through your RS Class Association membership.
