Fleet in action - 2015 BACARDI® Newport Sailing Week Newport Sailing Week
Fifth BACARDI® Newport Sailing Week Presented by EFG Kicks off on June 26th until July 5th in charming Newport, RI. Hoping for warm weather and great sailing conditions as only Newport can provide, 50 boats will travel to the sailing capital of the world to compete.

The event begins on Friday, June 26, with registration and opening party, and then on Saturday, June 27, the Star, J/70, Viper 640, VX One and Classic Day Racers will compete in Narragansett Bay until Sunday, June 28. This year’s on the water activities are coordinated by Sail Newport in collaboration with the Newport Yacht Club and Long Wharf Marina. This year’s boats come from as far as Miami for Newport’s renowned racing conditions and elite competition.

BACARDI Newport Sailing Week is not only renowned for the competition, but also for BACARDI’s legendary hospitality and in-town activities. Similar to year’s past, the BACARDI hospitality will be set up at Long Wharf Marina, where sailors will enjoy BACARDI Rum, food and music. A special art exhibit, Sailing Dreams by Vicki DaSilva, will be set up in Bowen’s Wharf and open everyday until July 5th. DaSilva will exhibit 10 light paintings (made by moving a hand-held light source while taking a long exposure photograph) that present to the community how she interprets the beautiful sport of sailing into art.

BACARDI will also sponsor cocktail events at selected establishments such as Cory Silken Gallery, Onne van der Wal Gallery, Sheldon Fine Art, Egg and Dart, Bowen’s Wharf and Chocolate in addition to seven Bar events that will take place during the Week. On June 24th BACARDI and Torresella Wines will sponsor the NYYC Transatlantic Party at Newport Shipyard. All these programs reaffirm the objective of BACARDI Sailing Week programs of creating a full week of activities on and off the water for sailors and sailing enthusiasts.

BACARDI Newport Sailing Week proudly supports Sail To Prevail and Sailing Heals non-profit organizations.
