Lördagen den 27 juni avgörs det sista tävlingsmomentet i Volvo Ocean Race 2014-15. Det ligger mycket prestige i att vinna Göteborgs In-Port Race och för två lag, Team Alvimedica och MAPFRE, blir den korta seglingen i hamninloppet avgörande för vem som tar fjärdeplatsen.

– Jag är oerhört taggad på att avslutas den här långa tävlingen med ett race på hemmaplan, säger Martin Strömberg.

Ett In-Port Race är en kort bankappsegling som tar cirka en timma. Starten för kappseglingen går klockan 13.00 på lördag i Göteborgs hamninlopp. Sedan seglar de sju tävlingsbåtarna runt en bana innan de passerar mållinjen utanför Käringberget. Åskådare kan följa racet från Käringberget, där Försvarsmakten kommer att öppna Göteborgs garnison för allmänheten. Efter målgång fortsätter de kappsegla mot Frihamnen där prisutdelning sker vid 15.00.

Varje hamnstopp längs med rutten för Volvo Ocean Race anordnar ett In-Port Race och de korta seglingarna har också en egen poängtabell. I den serien ligger Svenskbåten Team SCA just nu fyra och siktar på en pallplats. Och det utlovas en jämn kappsegling i det trånga hamninloppet.
– Banan vi ska segla kommer bli riktig tuff eftersom den är så smal och det kommer bli tajt mellan båtarna, säger Abu Dhabi Ocean Racings skeppare Ian Walker, som redan vunnit totalsegern i Volvo Ocean Race men har också chansen att ta en dubbelseger genom att även vinna In-Port Raceserien.
– Vi vill vinna alla seglingar vi startar i men banan kan absolut orsaka problem för oss och våra konkurrenter, säger Walker.

Svenskbåten SCA hamnade på en sjätteplats i totalen men satsar stenhårt på att nå en pallplats i In-Port Raceserien.
– Detta blir det sista vi gör tillsammans i teamet, så för oss handlar det mest om att njuta. Genom att göra det tror jag automatiskt att vi kommer att göra ett bra race, säger SCA:s skeppare Sam Davis.
