Southern Spars offer July only special price on SouthernFurl booms

Southern Spars are offering their customers a special deal on SouthernFurl furling booms.

For all orders placed in the month of July, customers will receive $500 off the usual price of their furling boom.

After two years of development, Southern Spars has modified their superyacht furling boom technology to be suitable and affordable enough for smaller yachts. The full range of inshore and offshore cruising yacht sizes are supported (40-75ft). One Moody 54DS equipped with a new SouthernFurl boom successfully completed the Sydney to Hobart race last Christmas with no problems.

Smaller yacht booms will typically have a manually operated furling drive line that rolls the sail around the carbon mandrel inside the boom shell. For larger vessels, we have electric and hydraulic drive options.

Full carbon construction means the SouthernFurl booms do not suffer from corrosion, and are light and very stiff. The full carbon mandrel eliminates sag, making reefed sail shapes more efficient and less prone to flogging. They feature an integrated sail cover to protect the sail from harmful UV light, which can be quickly rolled away when not in use. Being open fronted means that the furling system is forgiving of a “bad furl” and minimized sail deformation when furling and deploying.
