ISAF appoints Malcolm Page as Head of Marketing and Media

by ISAF on 25 Jun 2015 The International Sailing Federation (ISAF) has today announced the appointment of Malcolm Page as Head of Marketing and Media.

Page, who has previously been a Communications Consultant at the Australian telecommunications company Telstra, the Chef de Mission for the Australian Team at the Pacific Games as well as an Olympic athlete, brings a host of corporate and competitive knowledge to the position at ISAF, the governing body for the sport of sailing.

Page will report to the new CEO and takes the post with immediate effect at the ISAF Secretariat in Southampton, Great Britain. Page has responsibility for the Marketing and Media strategy, with the aim of driving the commercial and sponsorship arm of events and helping to promote the positive aspects of sailing from around the globe through all media outlets.

ISAF President Carlo Croce said, 'We are delighted to confirm Malcolm as the Head of Marketing and Media at ISAF. His continued input to the Executive Committee as Chairman of the Athletes Commission has been invaluable, and in his new position he can continue to drive ISAF and the Marketing and Media department forward with his wealth of sailing knowledge and expertise.”

Gary Jobson, ISAF Vice-president responsible for the media arm of the organisation, also welcomes Page, 'Malcolm is a very successful sailor at the highest level of our sport. As past Chairman of the Athletes Commission he brings vast experience to lead our Media and Marketing programs. Malcolm will be an important connection with the sailing community.”

Page is a two-time Olympic gold medallist and six-time World Champion in the 470 class, and combines this with corporate communications experience and seven years on the ISAF Athletes' Commission.

Page said, 'Sailing is my number one passion, and being able to help mould these new and exciting times is a great challenge. The new levels of commercialisation and professionalism within sport is going well beyond just the athletes themselves.

'I'm looking forward to bringing my experience and perspective as a sailing athlete to the international governing body, working with the various groups and creating the opportunities for the sailors and the general public to engage deeper into the sport.

'The new Sailing World Cup, Olympics and Paralympics just around the corner and new pathways for future champions from emerging nations, there's so many exciting opportunities and the future is looking bright.'
