Volvo Ocean Race – Integrante do barco espanhol MAPFRE, André 'Bochecha' Fonseca aposta na falta de vento na chega a Gotemburgo, na Suécia - palco final da Volta ao Mundo - para tentar vencer a etapa e ficar com a medalha de bronze da regata

A Volvo Ocean Race 2014-15 termina nesta segunda-feira (22) com a chegada dos barcos em Gotemburgo, na Suécia. Cinco equipes ainda disputam dois lugares no pódio. Com o título antecipado do Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing, resta saber quem vai ficar com as medalhas de prata e bronze. A regata final está sendo disputada neste momento no Mar do Norte e o Team Alvimedica (Turquia/EUA) lidera com vantagem confortável a nona perna. São mais de 20 quilômetros de distância para Dongfeng Race Team (China), Team Brunel (Holanda) e MAPFRE (Espanha). Se o resultado terminar assim, os espanhóis do MAPFRE, com o brasileiro André 'Bochecha' Fonseca, vão acabar a Volvo Ocean Race em quinto lugar.

'A diferença acabou sendo bastante grande! O Team Alvimedica chegou mais de duas horas na frente dos demais barcos e esse tempo será difícil de bater. Vamos ter de torcer pra que o vento pare em algum momento da regata, e que possa começar tudo de novo. Além disso, tem o Dongfeng um pouquinho mais perto deles. A intenção é terminar em segundo, passando os chineses', disse André 'Bochecha' Fonseca.

O resultado atual dá a medalha prata para o Dongfeng Race Team e o bronze para o Team Brunel. Para entrar na zona do pódio, o MAPFRE precisa terminar em primeiro e seus adversários serem ultrapassados pelos retardatários Team Vestas Wind (Dinamarca) e Team SCA (Suécia). Caso ocorra igualdade de pontos, a regata in-port de Gotemburgo, marcada para o próximo sábado (27), servirá como desempate. Se o Team Alvimedicar ganhar será o primeiro triunfo do time de Charles Enright na edição 2014-15. A equipe é a mais jovem da disputa.

A nona etapa largou na semana passada de Lorient, na França. Um parada de 24 horas em Haia, na Holanda, foi realizada pela primeira vez na história da Volvo Ocean Race. Mais de 70 mil pessoas participaram do 'adeus' aos barcos para o destino final em Gotemburgo, sede da Volvo.
