2015 Audi-tron Sailing Series - Day 2 BPSE / MMelandri
It was yet another impressive day of racing on Lake Garda for the forty-strong Audi Melges 20 fleet competing at the 2015 Audi-Tron Sailing Series hosted by Fraglia Della Vela Riva and organized by B.Plan Sport and Events (BPSE) in cooperation with Melges Europe. Dario Levi aboard Fremito D'Arja laid down the law to win all three races conducted on Day Two, sending him into the overall lead ahead by eight solid points.
Class stalwart Claudio Dutto on Asante Sana had another very good day with two high-end single-digit scores to help him remain in second overall, and in third is former overnight leader Igor Rytov on RUS-296.
Three additional races were held under amazing racing conditions with Levi leading the way in each heat to win. Lauro Bonora aboard Camay also felt the full effects of a super-stellar day. Due to Bonora's third place finish in Race Three of the six-part weekend series (and moderate results in Race Four and Five), he moves up the leaderboard from ninth overall to fifth.
Other notables include Guido Miani's Out of Reach, helmed this weekend by Andrea Pozzi of Bombarda Racing fame, found a nice second place finish in Race Three. Oleg Evdokimenko aboard Kotyara excelled to take third in Race Four. Fellow Russian fleet member Valentin Zavadnikov on Synergy GT took a satisfying second place spot in Race Five, followed by Dutto, the USA's Wes Whitmyer Jr. on Slingshot in fourth and Achille Onorato sailed his Mascalzone Latino Jr. Audi Melges 20 into fifth.
One last race is scheduled for Sunday, where Race Six not only signals the final heat, but also upon its completion, each team will discard their worst score. So even still, all things can change on Lake Garda.
