2015 Dubois Cup ready for the off

Dubois Cup 2013 Jeff Brown
2015 Dubois Cup - The superyacht sailing season gets underway in Porto Cervo today as the fifth edition of the Dubois Cup kicks off at the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda. The biennial event gathers sail and motor yachts from the renowned British design studio of Dubois Naval Architects. A fleet of ten superyachts, ranging from the 29-metre sloop Alcanara to the 54-metre Nirvana, is currently gracing the quays of Porto Cervo marina, eagerly awaiting the start of two days of racing commencing tomorrow, Friday 29th May.

Founded in 1977, Dubois has been conceiving yachts in which form and function are perfectly balanced for decades. The fleet gathered in Porto Cervo for the 2015 edition of the event is a representative selection of some of the most graceful, elegant and well-designed sailing yachts currently cruising the world's oceans. These include two vessels from the Vitters shipyard: the 46-metre sloop Ganesha, a regular participant in superyacht races in Sardinia's Costa Smeralda, and Nirvana - participating for the first time at the Dubois Cup with her new owners. Ohana, a modern 50-metre flybridge sloop launched in 2012 will also be participating alongside the 30-metre Penelope, attending for the first time after completion of a major refit in January of this year.

Some of the yachts moored in front of the YCCS will not be competing but have travelled to Porto Cervo to enjoy the stunning scenery and the family atmosphere of the event as well as the great social programme that always accompanies the on-the-water action. The entertainment begins this evening for owners and guests attending the Welcome Cocktail at the YCCS Clubhouse and continues with a gala dinner on Friday and a final party on the Yacht Club's Pool Terrace on Saturday evening.

Racing is scheduled to start tomorrow, Friday 29th May at 12.00, light breezes are forecast.
