2015 Fremantle to Bali Race and Rally - Two veterans of the Wonderful Indonesia Fremantle to Bali Race and Rally, Sue Sea and Mustang Sally arrived in Bali within fifteen minutes of each other today (Thursday) with skippers and crew of both yachts elated by the sail and the allure of the island.

Rally competitor Mustang Sally a Farr 46 owned by New Zealander Warren Batt, arrived in Bali at 11.04am just fifteen minutes ahead of Brian Todd’s Sue Sea, the third race competitor across the line which arrived at 11.19am.

Sue Sea a Marten 49 Bermuda sloop owned by Brian Todd and skippered Igor Mironenko took 10 days 1 hour and 19 minutes covering a distance of 1589nm. Crossing the finish line Sue Sea sailed through the finish line with her kite up and yells of joy.

Igor Mironenko, Sue Sea’s skipper who has sailed the Bali race three times said it was the longest sail he’s done but the only one where he has placed. “It was a great sail, with great crew. I couldn’t ask for more that,” he said.

Sue Sea’s crew consisted of Brian Todd, Che Hancock, Florian Schulz, Igor Mironenko, Riley Charles, Charlie Riley, John Maclean, and Wendy Usher.

New Zealand’s Mustang Sally a Farr 46 owned and skippered by New Zealander Warren Batt took 10 days 1 hour and 4 minutes covering a distance of 1585nm to cross the line at 11.04 am.

Warren, who has circumnavigated the globe three times with his wife Trish and five-year-old son crossed the finish line with his five-year-old crew member Morgan Batt steering the boat which had motored for only 18 hours of the trip, an outstanding navigational effort.

Warren said the sail was easy, covering 200nm a day for the first half of the rally with them dropping the kite at night time. “It was definitely an easy sail after sailing from new Zealand to Perth”, he said.

Mustang Sally’s crew consisted of Mark Kilkelly, Matt Duff, Morgan Batt, Patricia Meyer, Robbie Law, Tom Batt, and Warren Batt.
