SCIBS Day 2 - Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show 2015 Sanctuary Cove Media
Day two of the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show dawned with “Very GC” clear skies and mid-20 temperatures – the perfect start to a day on the water.
Crowd numbers were up for the second day in a row, with major sales happening across all boating and marine lifestyle products, luxury cruisers and accessories.
Legendary Sydney Hobart skipper and CEO of Grand Banks and Palm Beach Motor Yachts, Mark Richards, reported that the Grand Banks on show, the new 54 Heritage EU sold for $2.25 million to a Sydney buyer and a new client to the brand. The Palm Beach 55 and 45 are attracting their fair share of attention and look like they will be going home with new owners by Sunday.
David Tanner from Stella Systems has been exhibiting at SCIBS for 26 years and said so far, they have had the best sales since 2008.
“We’ve had the best two days since 2008, it’s been incredible,” said Mr. Tanner.
“The quality of customer is there, the numbers are strong, and it feels like there are more people here. I don’t think we’ve had that feeling of confidence and positivity in such a long time.”
According to the dynamic duo, Rose and Steve Ackerie, Stefan Boating World sold four boats across the range already and enjoyed the buzz of Day 2.
Dean Leigh-Smith said the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show had been ‘exceptional’ so far and the sales team was expecting a deposit within the next 24 hours on its stunning Alaska 47.
“It’s surpassed our expectations for day one and two. We’re getting solid enquiries, and we’re confident many of those will put pen to paper in the next few days and months.
“For us and for our kind of market, it’s about planting the seeds and harvesting the fruit. So far the Show has been great. The general sentiment is the crowd is a lot more upbeat. And that tells me their businesses are doing great, and they are looking to buy. It’s a very good vibe out there.
Integrity Motor Yachts sold a custom-built variation of its 460 model, with spokesperson Peter Pembroke saying he was very happy with the quality and the quantity of the crowds.
Ross Brain, sole Australian distributor for Walker Bay inflatable boats and Feel free Kayaks said he had sold two inflatable tenders at $6000 and two Airis kayaks, worth $1200 and $1400 respectively.
He said the Show has been off to a good start, with plenty of interest on the biggest inflatable motorboat on display, the 4m ‘Generation 400,’ priced at $24,000.
“We’ve had steady traffic all day and yesterday was great too. I’ve done five quotes on the Generation 500 – one guy was from out west and has a 60ft Maritimo and would like to use it off the back, another water berth and wants to use it as a great little runabout.”
The Cabo dealer, Graham McCloy, said he had sold two boats today, the 275 Freedom and the 336 Canyon and is looking forward to the weekend.
In the Pavilions, traffic was solid all day. Finscan said that “the B2B trading has never been better”. Carlo Camu said “there has been exceptional interest in the Nucleus launch, which we’re very excited about”.
MarineTech Industries David Goldsach, said that he has been coming to SCIBS since 1988 and even after a tough couple of years, he has noticed a massive increase in consumer confidence “and a mountain of quotes this year”.
“The sunshine has really brought out the cream of the crop,” said Johan Hasser, boat show general manager. “Our exhibitors are totally thrilled with the quality and quantity of the visitors so far and SCIBS Ambassador, Paul Burt from Seven News, has predicted more of the same over the weekend – blue skies and a sea breeze.”
The Maritimo Maserati event on Thursday night hosted more than 300 people on the marina, networking and unveiling their respective new models.
“We are blown away by this year’s SCIBS. We have had plenty of interest and we are anticipating a number of sales from this year’s event.”
Over the weekend, the Maritimo stand will host Super Boat Class champ, Ross Willaton, alongside the World Champion offshore power boat. Visitors are sure to enjoy a shot of adrenaline when the throttle goes down throughout the day.
Up at the InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort, the Women on Water Luncheon with speaker Gina Liano delighted around 200 fashionable ladies, thanks to sponsors Boat Style, Sundance Marine and Maserati.
