Long time Emirates Team New Zealand sponsor Omega has confirmed its continued sponsorship of the team in its Challenge for the 35th America’s Cup in 2017.

Omega is the second major sponsor of the team to renew its commitment in as many weeks along with Emirates, who confirmed last week that it would be taking a naming rights position with the 30year old America's Cup team, who will be competing in its ninth America's Cup in Bermuda in 2017.

“Having Omega continue as a major sponsor is another landmark milestone for the team,” said Emirates Team New Zealand Chief Executive Grant Dalton, in a media statement.

“The relationship is one that dates back more than 20 years to the 1995 campaign when the team first won the America’s Cup and illustrated what is possible by a team full of talent, innovation and belief and is yet another solid stepping stone in the drive for repeat success in 2017.”

“Omega’s values of precision timing, unparalleled accuracy and pioneering spirit are all reflected in the Emirates Team New Zealand culture and our quest to return the America’s Cup to New Zealand,” Dalton added.

Omega President Stephen Urquhart acknowledged the past while looking to the future with the team, “Omega has continued to support Emirates Team New Zealand and looks forward to being on hand in the further sailing adventures of one of the sport’s most celebrated crews.”
