2015 Gold Coast Marine Expo - Invitation to the official opening

by Gold Coast International Marine Expo on 20 May 2015
Official opening - 2015 Gold Coast International Marine Expo Gold Coast International Marine Expo
City of Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate will officially open the 2015 Gold Coast International Marine Expo on Thursday, formally signalling the start of four fantastic days featuring every marine display you can imagine.

Cr Tate, a vocal advocate of the marine industry and its growing economic importance to South East Queensland, will perform the official duties on the Club Marine Main Stage on the Gold Coast City Marina site at 10.30am.

The Expo this year aligns its dates with the Riviera Festival of Boating, of cementing the Gold Coast’s position as a truly international boating destination.

“The Gold Coast International Marine Expo has been created by marine industry leaders to foster growth and jobs within the wider Australian marine industry and that’s a great fit with Council’s economic development strategy to broaden our economy and create fulfilling careers for Gold Coast residents,” said Cr Tate.

“With the Expo dates now aligning with the Riviera Festival of Boating, Sanctuary Cove Boat Show and also Blues on Broadbeach, visitors will have a multitude of compelling reasons to visit the Gold Coast for four fantastic days of fun from 21-24 May 2015.”

Event & Marketing Manager Emma Milne welcomed Cr Tate’s words of endorsement for the 2015 Expo – a colossal sized showcase of all things aquatic featuring everything from luxury motor and sailing yachts to kayaks, jet skis to fishing equipment … and everything else in between.

“This year the Expo follows the high-level Australian Superyacht & Marine Industry Export (ASMEX) conference and we will have many of the world’s most influential marine industry identities here on the Gold Coast,” she said.

“In their eyes, the fact the Mayor recognises the importance of the marine industry to the Gold Coast and Queensland economies is certainly a beneficial feather in our cap – Cr Tate will hoist the Expo flag and piece together the final piece of the Expo puzzle at the official opening, at which all our visitors and exhibitors are welcome.”

Gold Coast Marine Expo this year expands to include 5 key event sites, 3 marinas and over 50 hectares of the Gold Coast Marine Precinct at Coomera, a bustling hub for marine manufacturing, export and trade, employment and training where each year over 13,000 boats are built, almost 6,000 boats are slipped, serviced, repaired or refitted and where over ,2000 people are directly employed.

“The value of the supply chain servicing the businesses located at the Marine Precinct – including the biggest yacht and aluminium boat-building facilities in the Southern Hemisphere – runs into hundreds of millions of dollars,” said Ms Milne.
