Sailors for the Sea and CWF collaborates to heal the ocean

Sailors for the Sea and the Canadian Wildlife Federation will work together to promote environmental best practices for the boating community in Canada.

Sailors for the Sea, a global conservation organization that engages, educates, inspires and activates the sailing and boating community toward healing the ocean, will partner with the Canadian Wildlife Federation (CWF), an organization that works to conserve Canada’s wildlife and encourages the wise use of the nations natural resources.

The key objective of the collaboration will be to promote environmental best practices to the boating community, highlighting that those who use the water for recreation and sport are important stakeholders and should engage in protecting fresh and marine waters. This will include the utilization of Sailors for the Sea’s and CWF programming focused on fresh water and marine conservation education for both children and adults.

“I look forward to working with the CWF, to protect the fresh and marine waters of the beautiful nation of Canada”, noted R. Mark Davis, president of Sailors for the Sea. “With the health of the World’s oceans, rivers and lakes in a perilous state, boaters have the opportunity to take care of a resource that is important to their pastime. Together, Sailors for the Sea and CWF will reach even more boaters with our pragmatic programs to protect the waters we all love.”

“This is a big step for conservation organizations to be engaging the boating community and a good example of important cross border collaboration,” said Wade Luzny, CEO and Executive Vice-President of the Canadian Wildlife Federation. “We know that the oceans are our final frontier and we need to be more vigilant than ever before and engage this community as well as all conservationists to become disciples of ocean protection!”

Damian Foxall, CWF Recreation Education Manager, and professional sailor will be the lead on this partnership for the CWF.
