Bayview Yacht Club Opening Day - Detroit sailing season preview

On May 2nd, Bayview Yacht Club will be opening its doors and kicking the Detroit sailing season into high gear. We call it our “Opening day and fitting-out party”. If you want to get more involved in the sport of sailing learn more about a one-design fleet, or just go for a sail on someone else’s boat, this is your big chance. We will have representatives from many of the local one-design fleets like the Etchells22, Cal 25s, 36.7s, J-120s T-10s, Lightning and U-20s to talk to and even some hot new fleets like the Viper 640, J-70s and C&C 30s in the water to test sail. If sailing from dry land is more your speed or your kids have been bugging you to get an RC sailboat, there will be a full RC demo fleet available to test out too.

The Bayview Yacht Club Junior Sailing Program will also be running a silent auction and fun games like Opti Golf, a rock climbing wall and dunk tank to keep kids of all ages entertained. There will also be silent and live auctions with tons to bid on from private chef prepared dinners for 8 to Wing’s tickets, to boat gear and cool clothing. After all of the festivities wrap up stick around to watch the Kentucky Derby and grab a burger and beverage with some new or old friends on the big screen.

- Live auction with items like a sunset dinner cruise, chef dinner for 8, sporting tickets and tons more

American Magic sailed Tuesday revealing an interesting deck layout including aft facing cyclors American Magic rolled out their new AC75 at 5.45am on Tuesday, with the first set of slightly asymmetric race foils, rudder and rig all in place and revealing an interesting deck layout putting the helms and trimmers side by side and well forward.
