The team at Doyle Sails New Zealand are firm believers in supporting up and coming talent across the local sailing scene. Ongoing initiatives include the sponsorship and support of a wide range of local regattas, mentorships and the formation of a Junior Scholarships programme.
Now Doyle Sails NZ is pleased to announce the creation of a Doyle Sails Scholarship for the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron Lion Foundation Youth Training Programme. Applications for the scholarship are open to sailors between 15 and 21 years old from throughout New Zealand, who are looking to join the squadron’s programme for the first time. Entries close on 20 April, with the 2015/2016 season of the Training Programme commencing in May.
'As a proudly Kiwi company we see investment into the sport at a national level as a crucial part of our role in supporting both New Zealand sailing and the sailors of the future,' said Mike Sanderson, Head of Sales at Doyle Sails New Zealand. 'By offering this new scholarship we will be able to give the successful candidate the opportunity to develop their sailing skills and go on to achieve great things in their sailing career.'
The successful applicant will have their programme fees for the 2015/2016 season covered, and in return will interact with the Doyle team, acting as a brand ambassador and receiving mentorship and support in turn.
Potential candidates are invited to complete an application form, which should be returned no later than 20 April.
