The Royal Yachting Association (RYA) is delighted to confirm that Folkestone will this year play host to the 2015 UIM Class 3A, Class 3B and V24 Powerboat Racing Championships.

Taking place from 14-16 August, this powerboat extravaganza will be the only International titled offshore event in the UK this year. Following on from the successful World Championships hosted by the UK in 2014, it promises to be an action packed weekend of pure racing entertainment that is free and accessible to the public.

With a host of foreign competitors already signed up to compete, the competition is set to be fierce as the UK entrants will be at the top of their game and eager to dominate the top podium honours in front of their home crowd.

Reaching speeds in excess of 70mph, battling through the waves and frequently flying high and creating superb photographic opportunities, it promises to be a fun and thrilling sight for all of the family to enjoy.

The first European Championship race will start at 12.00 on Saturday 15 August with the best race viewing points being from the Harbour Arm, Sunny Sands and overlooking Wear Bay.

The grand finale and European title deciders will take place around 12.00 on Sunday 16 August, followed by champagne podium presentations overlooking Folkestone Harbour immediately after the final race has been completed.

For those who want to catch some early action, the European Championship teams will be putting in some practice laps on Friday 14 August.

Throughout the weekend there will also be free live music and entertainment, raft race, fun fair rides, food and drink, all part of the Folkestone Harbour Festival. Find out more at http://www.folkestoneharbourfestival.co.uk/
