Serious Fun! That's what participants, sponsors and onlookers are expected to have during the 35th St. Maarten Heineken Regatta which will be held in St. Maarten during March 05 - 08, 2015. The Regatta is considered to be the biggest in the Caribbean and offers a great combination of challenging races and fantastic gatherings under the banner of 'Serious Fun'! This year marks the 35th anniversary of the event and Sol's 10th year as a sponsor of the Regatta which caters to all levels of sailing ability.

Sol, the Caribbean's leading provider of petroleum-based energy solutions, provides sponsorship of the Heineken Regatta in the form of The Sol Water Taxi Service, a free service which ferries sailors to and from their boats. The service relies heavily on an army of Sol volunteers who operate both night and day ferrying sailing crews, Regatta officials, media, dignitaries and specially invited guests to and from their vessels and to and from the various St. Maarten Heineken Regatta venues.

David W. Antrobus, General Manager - Northern Caribbean, described the Sol Water Taxi Service as being 'absolutely critical' to the efficient functioning of the Regatta and noted that it is extremely important that all participants are ferried to and from their vessels in a timely and comfortable manner. 'Sol is proud to provide this critical service to the St. Maarten Heineken Regatta,' he said.

The Regatta's first race, an Around the Island race which starts and ends in Simpson Bay, takes place on Friday, March 6, 2015. The remaining days of the Regatta will feature a number of races which all start and finish at Simpson Bay. The Regatta will also feature great food and music by local, regional and international artists.

The success and popularity of the St. Maarten Heineken Regatta over the past 35 years is credited to a number of factors, including robust corporate sponsorship, St. Maarten's ideal climate for boating, quality sportsmanship and an event which caters to a wide range of sailing abilities.

The Sol Group is a leading petroleum company, operating in 23 countries across the Eastern Caribbean, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Bermuda, Bahamas, Cayman, Belize Guyana, Suriname, French Guiana, Martinique and Guadeloupe. Sol supplies fuels, lubricants, bitumen and LPG through an extensive service station network, with marine, aviation and commercial operations in the Caribbean. For more information, visit website.
