The 35th St.Maarten Heineken Regatta will be overflowing with legends, not just on the water but on shore as well. Celebrated artists Kool and the Gang will close out the festivities on March 8th 2015, bringing a truly global flair to the event. This renowned group has been performing for 35 years and have sold over 70 million albums worldwide. Their smooth vibes and soul moving beats will certainly bring everyone to the beach on Sunday night, and keep them on their sandy toes until the very end.

Regatta performers are always a hot topic of conversation, with participants and residents alike wondering who will be the events headliner. This year organizers are thrilled to be able to book this talented group to help celebrate 35 years of Serious Fun. The regatta, which is a must-do event for many sailors, has strived to combine the best sailing with the finest musicians. This combination has led to the creation of a unique mix of sport and entertainment, found nowhere else in the world.

The band was established in 1964, and over the years they bounced around with various names until they settled on their current name, Kool and the Gang. They blend together funk, jazz and soul to deliver a unique sound that has carried them through decades of performances. Their musical sound evolved and they released their debut album in 1969 self-titled Kool and the Gang, which eventually generated their first Billboard R&B charted single.

In total they have produced 25 Top Ten R&B Hits, nine Top Ten Pop Hits, two Grammy Awards, seven American Music Awards and 31 gold and platinum records. Their accomplishments are well-known, and they have performed nonstop for 35 years, longer than any other R&B group.

Regatta participants, island residents and visitors will be treated to songs that have made Kool and the Gang famous, such as 'Celebration', 'Get Down on it' and 'I Want to Take you Higher'. Their infectious beats will most certainly get the crowds heart rate up and their show promises to be one of a kind. The band is currently on tour and preparing for upcoming performances in Japan, Sri Lanka and the USA before making their way to St.Maarten.

When asked about their upcoming performance at the 35th edition of the St.Maarten Heineken Regatta, they stated 'This is the first time we will be performing there in quite a while. We have been there but not recently and we have missed you St.Maarten! We are excited to be performing in St.Maarten again. There are so many things we love about the island from the clear waters, the tropical foods and the beautiful weather.'

Kool and the Gang also wanted the St.Maarten crowd to know that 'The audience can expect a performance filled with all of their favourite Kool and the Gang hits. Everyone is going to have a great time. Bring your dancing shoes and be ready for a musical Celebration!'

Sunday evening's headlineract is not the only musical entertainment in the 2015 event line up. More international talents are booked for this anniversary edition. Artists will be revealed in the coming weeks and all regatta information pertaining to sailing as well as musical artists can be found on the new and very user friendly regatta website.
