470 class Australian Championship - Mathew Belcher returns home

The 470 class Australian Championship is being held on the Gold Coast. Staged from Southport Yacht Club’s Sailing Squadron, located on the Broadwater at Hollywell.

This Olympic class of sail racing brings the best in the business, six time world champion and Olympic Gold Medallist Mathew Belcher, along with crew member Will Ryan are competing along with competitors from Japan and all around Australia to become the 2015 National Champions.

‘SYC has been a major part of my sail training growing up, I am extremely happy to be back sailing in the Nationals at my home Club’ Mathew Belcher said.

The 470 class Australian Championships will also incorporate the final assessment and selection camp for the Australian Sailing Team.

Sailing will commence on Wednesday 11th February, offshore - along the shore lines of the Gold Coast.
