The Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club has today announced that the Geneva-based and family-owned financial institution, Edmond de Rothschild Group, has been appointed as the Club’s first Official Wealth Management Partner. In addition, Edmond de Rothschild Group has been named the title sponsor of both the Spring and Autumn Regattas as a new Regatta Series. The cumulative results of all classes of racing in both regattas will be used to determine the overall Regatta Series winners.

The Rothschild family has a remarkable history that dates back over 250 years and their association with competitive sailing, which began in 1876, is truly unique. Baron Benjamin de Rothschild, Chairman of the Edmond de Rothschild Group, has inherited his family’s keen passion for the sport, creating the Gitana Team in 2000, and has been actively involved in their success ever since.

Mark Bovaird, General Manager at the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club stated, 'This partnership with Edmond de Rothschild Group adds several new dimensions to the Club. Not only is this financial institution our first official wealth management partner, but they will also be the title sponsor of a new regatta series incorporating our Spring and Autumn Regattas. Edmond de Rothschild Group is also known for its fine champagnes, wines and cheeses which we look forward to sharing with our members and guests at regatta parties, and they have a strong philanthropic vision which is consistent with that of our own Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club Charity Foundation. Given the family’s passion for sailing, we would certainly welcome the opportunity to see the Gitana team back in Hong Kong again soon!'

Monique Chan, Chief Executive Officer and Head of Asia for the Edmond de Rothschild Group said 'Sailing is an inherent part of the Rothschild family’s tradition. Their enthusiasm for the sport has been shared through the generations for almost 140 years. Our Group embraces the spirit, tenacity and camaraderie associated with sailing. It is therefore a natural fit for the Edmond de Rothschild Group to partner with the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club, one of the pre-eminent yacht clubs in the world. As the Club’s first official wealth management partner, we look forward to sharing the Rothschild family’s passion for sailing and other lifestyle activities with the Club’s members and guests.
