Last Sunday, Michael Coxon’s Thurlow Fisher Lawyers team was leading the Australian 18 Footers League Club Championship race when gear failure on the second spinnaker run ultimately led to a spectacular capsize.
Trent Barnabas was forced to try and make running repairs when a squall hit the skiff and sent Barnabas over the leeward side of the skiff.
Coxon and David O’Connor tried to hold on but the force of the wind was too much and threw Coxon into the air.
Chris Part was a spectator on the club spectator ferry and captured the attached sequence.
