Route du Rhum - Thibaut Vauchel-Camus, deuxième Class40 en Guadeloupe

Ce mercredi 19 novembre à 18 heures 33 minutes et 41 secondes, le skipper Thibaut Vauchel-Camus a franchi la ligne d’arrivée à Pointe-à-Pitre de la 10è Route du Rhum - Destination Guadeloupe. Le skipper de Solidaires en peloton a mis 17 jours 04 heures 33 minutes et 41 secondes pour boucler le parcours de 3 542 milles à la vitesse moyenne de 8,58 nœuds. Il a parcouru en réalité 4399 milles à 10,66 nœuds de moyenne. L’écart au premier, l’Espagnol Alex Pella est de 10 heures 46 minutes et 33 secondes.

C’est au terme d’un final intense, propice à de nombreux rebondissements dans les vents évanescents qui baignent l’île en forme de papillon, que Thibaut Vauchel-Camus, bizuth du Rhum et des chevauchées océaniques en solitaire, l’a finalement emporté face au redoutable et très expérimenté Kito de Pavant. A la barre de son Mach40 Solidaires en peloton, il termine en deuxième position et endosse le rôle de dauphin du grand vainqueur dans la catégorie la plus nombreuse de la course. Un beau fait d’armes pour ce Malouin d’adoption et Guadeloupéen de cœur, qui n’a pas manqué de créer la surprise tout au long du parcours entre Saint-Malo et Pointe-à-Pitre. Sous le soleil des latitudes tropicales, ce marin de 36 ans affale les voiles au terme d’une course magnifique qui révèle un nouveau talent du large. Chapeau Route du Rhum
