Successful BMEEA Conference in Southampton

BMF group association, the British Marine Electrical and Electronics Association (BMEEA) has recently held yet another successful Conference at the Novotel Hotel in Southampton.
The Conference was packed with a wide range of talks. This included a presentation by Steve Spitzer on the updates to training qualifications, MEI, AMEI, and CMET, a discussion entitled 'Prevention is the Cure' by Robert Cranstone of the MAIB and a talk explaining Fuel Cells and their power capabilities, given by Tom Sperrey of Fuel Cell Systems Ltd.
As well as many more presentations, the afternoon included an apprentice's competition. Three teams took part, two from City College Southampton and one from the Bournemouth and Poole College. The winners were Alexander Spencer and George Woollis, both apprentices training at the Bournemouth and Poole College but employed by Sunseeker International Ltd.
Tim Morgan, the Chairmain of the BMEEA commented: 'I am delighted that the apprentices attended the Conference and took part in their competition and hope that more teams will be encouraged to attend next year’s event.'
In addition, three other awards were presented at the event. The 'Product of the Year', sponsored by Boating Business, was won by to BluefinLED for their Colour Change Dock Light. Also the 'Dealer of the Year', sponsored by Garmin Europe Ltd, went to Landau UK Ltd. Lastly, the 'Newly Certificated Engineer of the Year', sponsored by Raymarine, was awarded to David Matthias of J D Boats Gailey Ltd.
