With just a few more days to go before Sail Sandy 2014, entries already exceed the record fleet numbers of 2012 with nearly two hundred boats now entered across nineteen monohull classes and, for the first time at Sail Sandy, three Multi-hull classes. Racing starts at 1pm on Saturday October 18 and will conclude after a full day on the water on Sunday October 19.

The good news is that it’s not too late to enter Sail Sandy 2014 with entries accepted on-line or at the event Registration Office right up until 11:00AM on Saturday October 18. The weather looks great too with warm days and light to moderate breezes forecast for Melbourne this weekend.

Sail Sandy is traditionally the first multi-class regatta of the new sailing season in Melbourne and will be raced on the waters of Port Phillip off Sandringham Yacht Club, the venue for the ISAF World Cup regatta which will take place there in mid-December 2014. Racing will be conducted on triangular, windward-leeward and trapezoid courses plus a 'Green Fleet' shorter course especially provided to cater for beginners competing in their first major regatta.

Junior and Youth class sailors are reminded that Sail Sandy 2014 is the opening event in the season-long Yachting Victoria OTB Marine Victorian Sailing Cup series to decide overall Junior and Youth class champions across the 2014-15 season.

Sail Sandy 2014 is organised and run entirely by volunteers from Sandringham Yacht Club and kindred Clubs. For Sail Sandy 2014, an amazing Eighty-five friendly and skilled volunteers will ensure great racing and world class race management while experienced rescue boat teams will ensure that sailors are safe on the water. The awesome Mums of the Sandringham Yacht Club off the Beach Canteen will provide competitors with the best in food, snacks and refreshments.

Family and friends of competitors will be able to view the racing from the elevated northern deck of the yacht club as guests of Sandringham Yacht Club. There is also excellent public viewing available from the Jetty Road car park and atop the Sandringham breakwater.

The Sandringham Yacht Club website has all the Sail Sandy 2014 details. Go to the event website or contact the SYC Boating Office, Tel 03 9598 7444 or email boating@syc.com.au

Sandringham Yacht Club looks forward to welcoming you to Sail Sandy 2014.
