90 year old Canadian captain still cruising and racing

by Trixie Hood on 10 Oct 2014 Vern Ruskin, PhD, M.Com, BSc., P.Eng., boat owner, live 'aboarder' and race captain, will be 90 years old October 14, 2014.

He continues to cruise and race on his 37' sloop off the coast of Vancouver, Canada in the summer season; he has rarely been beaten during the past 47 years.

In the winter, he floats about on his 43' sloop in the Caribbean from Central America to Florida.

And this month (Oct 2014) he will return to Cannes to sail amongst wooden classics from the closing of Les Regates Royale through to the beauty of Les Voiles de St Tropez as captain on a pretty little sloop.

And for the grand 90th celebration, family and respected individuals will join him at the Monaco Yacht Club to pay him the superior respect he truly deserves and commands. And then he'll go out dancing.
