Laser day 2 Sail Canada / Voile Canada http://www.sailing.ca/
2014 ISAF Sailing World Championships - Santander - Laser and Radial classes wrap up their qualification series today under light and shifty conditions. 23 Laser berths have been picked up as the fleet divides up into gold, silver and bronze packs.

Twenty four nations make up the 49-boat Santander 2014 Laser gold fleet but with Brazil automatically receiving a spot as host nation, 23 Rio 2016 Olympic Sailing Competition places have been snapped up, including Canada. Lee Parkhill (RCYC) is currently in 16th and will be the sole Canadian battling in the Gold fleet. Robert Davis (KYC/RCYC) missed gold fleet by one spot, in 50th overall.

The qualification series has concluded in the Laser Radial but with 33 nations making the gold fleet and only 19 Rio berths available, the fight will go on for three days of final series racing. Canadian Isabella Bertold (RVYC) is currently in 35th followed by Claire Merry (RCYC) in 41st place.

More racing tomorrow for Laser, Radial, and RSX. The 470 fleets will kick off their event Event Website
