Famous yacht, Hurrica V Bronwen Ince/SYC
The famous and classic 90-year-old yacht Hurrica V, which featured in the movie 'The Great Gatsby', has docked at Southport Yacht Club while on a cruise from Hamilton Island to Sydney.
Owned by Steve Gunns, the superbly restored Hurrica V featured as part of Hollywood actor, Leonardo DiCaprio’s starring role in the Baz Luhrmann directed movie, The Great Gatsby.
The 21.9 metre long Hurrica V is a classic English gentleman's sailing yacht, born in the glamour of the Edwardian era of March 1924. As a sizable and significant yacht of its period, she was designed as a gaff auxiliary ketch by the esteemed Charles E Nicholson, of the UK, and built in Sydney by Australia's premier boatyard at the time, W. M. Ford.
