Louis Vuitton Cup- Image tribute to Yves Carcelle

by Richard Gladwell, Sail-World.com/nz on 3 Sep 2014 Carlo Borlenghi, widely regarded as one of the top international sailing photographers, first began covering the Louis Vuitton Cup in the year of its inception, 1983.

Yves Carcelle joined Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy in 1989, and took responsibility for their sponsorship of the Louis Vuitton Cup. With no previous experience in sailing, many feared he would not continue the sponsorship. Instead Carcelle got behind the event and allowed it to maintain the stellar levels it had achieved in 1987 in Fremantle.

He understood pedigree, he understood history. He understood class. All these characteristics he brought to the America's Cup. Yves was a custodian of the Americas Cup, the world's most prestigious sporting event.
