by Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club on 30 Aug 2014
2013 NCYC Inner Spring Regatta Carsten Kapinkski
The 2014 EnviroPacific Service Inner Spring Regatta to be held this coming weekend is shaping up to be better than ever!

With 21 entries received and crews representing seven yachts clubs from Port Stephens, Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and Sydney plenty of battles on the water will no doubt be match with loads of comradery at NCYC which will host a competitors BBQ on Saturday evening.

Entries of note include current IRC Australian Champion Roger Hickman’s Wild Rose, Doug Coulter’s recently imported Rogers 46 Shakti, Derek Shepherd’s Beneteau 45 Black Sheep, former Inner Spring Champion Ian Bower’s RP36 Spirit and Roy Leslie’s Koko representing Gosford Sailing Club.

Commodore of NCYC, Phil Arnall, said 'We are delighted to have so much representation from our neighbouring yacht clubs. NCYC is a fantastic regatta destination. The Club has recently added new 5.6 metre RIB to its race committee fleet to assist with mark boat and safety duties. The new RIB, aptly named after former Rear Commodore Paul Gleeson, will be on the pin for the regattas and has increased NCYC’s ability to host significant regattas. The Inner Spring Regatta is one of Club’s key annual sailing events and should be a great weekend of racing.'

The EnviroPacific Services Inner Spring Regatta will be conducted under IRC, ORCi and PHS with both a racing and cruising division. Racing starts on Saturday morning with entries accepted until Friday.
