Many of the crew racing in yesterday's breezy passage race would have down well to listen closely to the advice that Team Beau Geste's sailing master Gavin Brady gave at the Shoot The Breeze briefing in the morning.

After 5 days of light breeze, yesterday brought 20-25 knot winds and made for a spectacular start for the cruising divisions in the southern start area.

Brady's advice was to keep it simple 'don't worry so much about tide today' he said 'do your preparation properly, tape up your sheets, make sure you've got your next sail on top of the pile so you're ready and above all do your own job. If you're at the back of the boat don't tell the bowman how to raise the spinnaker pole!'

Catching up with Brady later on Front Street, he said that in regattas like this you tend to get lulled into a false sense of security, 'you can get a little too confident in the light breezes and then when the bigger winds hit you can come undone.

Here are some of Crosbie Lorimer's images from yesterday's racing.
