Baltic 4 Nations fleet arrive into Stralsund City Marina

by Sailing Rallies on 22 Aug 2014
Poland Sailing Rallies
After some fantastic sailing down the Danish East Coast, the Baltic 4 Nations fleet headed on to the second nation of the trip arriving into Stralsund City Marina, Germany on Wednesday afternoon. Crews had the opportunity to visit the Ozeaneum, winner of European Museum of the Year in 2010 as well as admire the incredible sights and gothic architecture that this Hanseatic city has to offer.

The crews met later in the evening for dinner at the Wulflaumhaus before setting off for a free sail day the following day taking the fleet through the Griefswalder Bodden. The majority overnight-ed in Kroslin before heading for Swinoujscie, Poland on Saturday in yet more sunshine and consistent breeze. The weather gods have certainly played fair for the rally so far!

Sunday morning saw an early start for the whole fleet as they tackled the longest leg of the rally from Swinoujscie to Nexo Havn on the Danish island of Bornholm. A friendly ‘last one in buys the beer’ race ensued between White Satin, Anusha and Chiscos, with the crews making landfall at around 8pm having sailed almost side by side for the whole 70 nm passage. With plenty of time to explore the ‘sunshine isle’ by day (Bornholm claims to have the highest number of sunshine hours of anywhere else in the Baltic), the rally crews will enjoy a group meal and entertainment put on by Nexo Havn harbour this evening.

The event has been organised especially for the rally crews by the harbour staff and promises to be a great evening.

Crews will then be free to explore at their leisure further along the Bornholm coast, eventually crossing to the Swedish coastline, and making their way towards Limhamn and Malmo, where Chiscos will be waiting to welcome them into the fourth nation of the event. Limhamn will be the final stopover of the rally before heading back to Svanemollen Marina, Copenhagen where the Baltic 4 Nations Rally 2014 concludes on Saturday.
