With an exciting new 4WD Proving Ground, products with V8 racing-inspired technology, and plenty of hands-on activities and demonstrations, 4WD enthusiasts will be in heaven at this year's National 4x4 Outdoors Show and Fishing and Boating Expo at the Melbourne Showgrounds from 22-24 August.

'True to our name, this year's show is the ultimate for 4x4 enthusiasts with new product launches, special guests and an amazing array of products to make your next 4WD adventure even more enjoyable,' Paul Mathers, Event Director said.

Sure to impress will be Terrain Tamer's new suspension line which includes a front coil spring that takes innovation previously used in the V8 racing industry to deliver a product with the strength required for a 4WD and the road handling of a V8 race car.

Visitors will be able to see the new suspension line in more detail at 'The Workshop', a new feature of the Terrain Tamer's stand (#A51), where industry icon Allan Gray and his nephew Andrew will be on hand for demonstrations and questions.

New and exclusive to this year's show is the 4WD Proving Ground, a purpose-built track where visitors can test the latest 4WD vehicles from Suzuki, Isuzu UTE and Volkswagen, and top Melbourne dealerships including Bayside Jeep, Melton Toyota, Werribee Nissan, Werribee Kia and Werribee Mitsubishi.

Rick O'Brien and the team from Channel 10's Offroad Adventure Show will be on hand at the 4WD Proving Ground for driver education demonstrations ranging from safe towing to recovery and rescue.

'Our show is the only 4x4 show in Melbourne where visitors can genuinely test their new 4x4 over a variety of surfaces and obstacles whilst receiving hands-on 4WD driving and maintenance tips such as winching, tyre changing, tyre safety and set-ups from the experts at 4WD Victoria,' continued Paul.

One new product sure to impress all outdoor enthusiasts will be the new 4x4 diesel flexitanks on stand at Flexitank (#A164), able to carry up to 100 litres of diesel fuel without the need for extensive or expensive vehicle modifications.

Military buffs will love the ex-defence force vehicles on display at Australian Frontline Machinery (#O39) including a Land Rover 6x6 and the show-stopping 'Pimped Perentie', which has been modified by the Land Rover experts at KLR Automotive.

Those who love long adventures on the open road will be intrigued by the lithium iron phosphate batteries adapted from mobile phone batteries for use in cars, boats and camping that are available at Lithium Power's stand (#O09).

The Rhino 4x4 stand (#G713) will feature its custom-designed Evolution front bars, which are perfect for people who need the protection of a bullbar but don't like the agricultural look of traditional styles.

The Polyair Springs stand (#A170) will feature a ute without its wheels, allowing visitors to see the Polyair onboard compressor fitted to the vehicle.

Molytec will be showcasing its performance lubricants and chemicals such as self-fusing silicone Supatape, Fleece Grease liquid lanolin and Cobra Cote vinyl protectant at stand #A148.

Outdoor enthusiasts can meet other industry icons such as John 'Roothy' Rooth, Peter 'Spida' Everitt, Jase Andrews and Paul Worsteling in what will be their only appearances at a Melbourne 4x4 show this year, as well as environmental crusader Chris 'Brolga' Barns aka Kangaroo Dundee and travel adventurers Chris and Elaine Clash.

Also sure to draw the crowds will be the exclusive open air performances from Australian music icons Mark Seymour (Hunters and Collectors) and Ross Wilson (Mondo Rock) who will rock the XXXX Retreat in the Action Arena on the Saturday and Sunday respectively.

This is merely a snapshot of what can be experienced at Melbourne's premier outdoors expo with over 230 exhibitors and more than 34,000 square metres dedicated to the boating, fishing, touring, towing and 4x4 arenas.

Another drawcard for visitors is the major prize of a fully-loaded Isuzu MU-X LS-M manual off-roader thanks to Isuzu Ute and Opposite Lock, valued at $60,000.

The 2014 National 4x4 Outdoors Show and Fishing and Boating Expo will be held at the Melbourne Showgrounds from August 22-24, please go to www.4x4show.com.au for further information and to purchase tickets.
