On Monday August 18, racing will begin at China's Lake Jinniu, the sailing venue of the Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games (YOG). An event which brings together over 3,800 athletes across 28 sports, the YOG is a world-class athletic competition held every four years. To be eligible to participate, all athletes must be either 15 or 16 years old.

Representing the United States in the sailing events will be Henry Marshall (Auburndale, Mass.) and Maximo Nores (Miami Beach, Fla.). Marshall will race in the Boy's Byte CII singlehanded event, with Nores competing on the Techno 293 board in the Boys’ Windsurfing event. 'This is an amazing opportunity for Henry and Maximo to compete on the world stage,' said Charlie McKee, two-time Olympic medalist and High Performance Director of the US Sailing Team Sperry Top-Sider. 'We are excited for them to have this Olympic-type experience so early in their career, and we know they will represent us well.'

For more information about Marshall and Nores, see the US Youth Olympic Sailing Team Selection Announcement: http://bit.ly/1l7jtge

In the Boy's Byte CII class, Marshall is a strong contender for a medal after nearly winning the World Championships in 2013. Standing in his way are 29 other sailors, each representing a different nation. 'Now that the Youth Olympics are here I am extremely excited,' said Marshall. 'This is a moment that I've been training toward for a long time and it has finally arrived. I can't wait to get started.' The Boy's Techno 293 class will be strong as well, with 20 athletes set to compete for the windsurfing title. Nores will be relying on his extensive experience in the class, which includes attending multiple national, continental and world championship events.

Racing at the second Youth Olympiad will begin on Monday, August 18 at 11:00 local time.
