Museum of Yachting Classic Yacht Regatta Cory Silken
The Museum of Yachting at IYRS is pleased to reveal to the community the 35th Annual Classic Yacht Regatta, August 29th- 31st. Registration is now open for the MoY Classic Yacht Regatta, part of the North American Circuit of the Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge which also includes the Nantucket Opera Cup Regatta (Nantucket, MA) and the Corinthian Classic Yacht Regatta (Marblehead, MA).

The regatta attracts classic yachts with extraordinary pedigrees. IYRS is especially honored to welcome title sponsor Officine Panerai in celebrating their 10th year as the lead sponsor of the Classic Yacht Regatta, and '10 Years of Passion' for classic sailing worldwide. The high-end Italian-designed watch brand has deep-rooted links to the sea, the true heritage of the Brand, which bestows on each timepiece a sporting character that is unique and authentic – much like the exceptionally crafted yachts competing in the Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge Series globally.

New regatta sponsor North Sails will offer technical knowledge and hospitality to sailors over the weekend. North's Sailing Performance Analysts are working together to improve on-the-water performance for sailors. The North U Regatta Services team will be out on the water for you at the Classic Yacht Regatta to take photos and video, and will be conducting a post-race debrief... Don't miss this awesome opportunity to keep your performance curve upwardly mobile!

On Friday August 29th Registration will be open from 5:00-7:00PM; North Sails will be hosting a local knowledge talk at the hospitality tent at Sail Newport at 6:00PM with experts Andreas Josenhans and Chuck Allen, who will give a short presentation and answer any questions about local sailing conditions that you may have. The public is invited to kick off the weekend at the Welcome Cocktail Party (cash bar) from 6:00-8:00PM. Enjoy sweeping views of the Bay from Fort Adams and savor the excitement as the crews check in and prepare for a full weekend of racing.

Saturday, August 30th North's North U Regatta Services team will be on the water taking photos and videos. Join the North team immediately after racing at the hospitality tent at Sail Newport from 4:30- 6:30PM. (Be sure to stop by for some great North Sails giveaways and refreshments!)

The Classic Yacht Parade kicks off at 10:30am on Sunday, August 31st from the harbor entrance. On moving display around the harbor is a beautiful collection of as many as 50 classic yachts, both sail and power, which represent the very best of classic yacht design and construction. This is an opportunity for boat lovers as well as for anyone who appreciates beauty, craftsmanship and nautical history: there are many wonderful vantage points to view this procession of spectacular yachts, including the Goat Island Marina dock, Bowen’s Wharf, Bannister’s Wharf, The Newport Yachting Center dock, King’s Park Pier and the Alofsin Piers and Sail Newport Waterfront Center at Fort Adams. The yachts will be vying to win the coveted Classic Yacht Parade awards including 'Best Sail', 'Best Power', 'Most patriotic' and 'Best Costumes'. If you have your own beautiful classic boat, we’d love to have you join the parade (it’s free!)

Joining title sponsor Panerai are North Sails, WIMCO Villas, and Vanquish Boats; regatta production partners Sail Newport provide on-water logistics for the weekend, which is hosted by the Museum of Yachting at IYRS and headquartered at Fort Adams State Park.

Following two days of racing on Narragansett Bay, the public is welcome to celebrate with the skippers and their crews during the Awards Dinner (cash bar) on Sunday evening: Cocktails at 6:30PM, with Dinner by Blackstone Caterers at 7:30. Tickets are $50 per person in advance/$75 per person at the Click here for the Notice of Race and registration forms.
