Lipton Cup Regatta 2014 - The Notice of Race for the 2014 Lipton Cup Regatta has been released. Event organisers are promising a fun and affordable weekend of racing for all sailing enthusiasts at the two-day regatta, which will be conducted on the waters of Port Phillip and Hobson’s Bay over the weekend of 15th and 16th November 2014.

The Lipton Cup Regatta is organised by the Royal Yacht Club of Victoria (RYCV), in partnership with the Williamstown Sailing Club and the Port Melbourne Yacht Club. Now in its ninth year, the Organising Committee has honed the program to deliver the perfect balance between competitive racing and fun for everyone, and to ensure that boats can participate at reasonable cost.

For serious keelboat and sports boat sailors, there is the challenge of windward-leeward races on the Saturday followed by a longer distance race on the Sunday. There will be plenty of action for off-the-beach sailors with three short races on the Saturday afternoon. Competitors in the cruising keelboat divisions will enjoy one longer-distance race each day, with plenty of time to relax on the deck at the Royal Yacht Club of Victoria and enjoy music, good food, the friendly atmosphere and superb views.

RYCV Vice Commodore David Seaman said 'My crew and I are really looking forward to this Regatta. The Organising Committee has been working hard and I know it will be another fantastic event for everyone. So I’d like to extend a warm invitation to all skippers and crews to join us on the water for a great weekend’s racing'.

The Lipton Cup Regatta is supported by the Nautilus Marine Insurance, Audi Penfold Burwood, Musto, Exide Batteries, Robert Oatley Vineyards, the McLaren Vale Beer and Doyle Sails. The Organising Committee would like to thank these businesses for their support, and making the event possible.

The Notice of Race (NoR) is available online on the event website.
On-line entry will open shortly, and close at midday on 12 November 2014. Don't miss out on what promises to be an excellent event!

Grabbing chances with both hands
Can bad weather actually lead to more sailing? There's been no getting away from the fact that it's been a pretty miserable start to 2024 weather-wise in the UK. February saw record rainfall (yes, I know we're famed for our rain over here), it's been seriously windy and generally chilly.
