Given the profile of the sport of sailing, the success of Yachting Australia’s High Performance and other programs, along with the quantum of Yachting Australia’s operations, this role is clearly one of the prized sport-business positions in Australia.

Yachting Australia is the national governing body for yachting in Australia and is responsible for the management, administration, marketing and promotion of all forms of yachting, both power and sail. Yachting Australia is a well-respected, financially sound and credible organisation within the Australian sporting landscape and has a proud reputation of attracting and retaining quality staff.

The key internal stakeholders are the eight State and Territory Yachting Associations, affiliated clubs and registered training centres. Yachting Australia has approximately 370 yacht clubs and over 60,000 individuals on the national database.

Through the development of its High Performance program Yachting Australia has established a world class sailing structure, securing two gold medals and one silver medal at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, and three gold medals and one silver medal at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

The Yachting Australia Board is committed to ensuring sailing prospers at all levels throughout Australia including a large participant base, winning teams, a strong service culture and relationship network supported by a robust, commercially successful infrastructure.

As Chief Executive Officer you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day management of this sport-business and accountable for driving and delivering the commercial and strategic priorities as set by the Board.

To be considered for this role you will need to be a dynamic and inspirational leader, with the ability to engage and develop lasting, positive relationships with the stakeholder family. Your commercial acumen will be matched by your skill in identifying and then capitalising on opportunities, finding innovative solutions and thinking 'outside the square'. You will need to demonstrate a successful track record in managing and growing like-sized businesses. You will have the skill to navigate through complex issues prioritising, managing and delivering outcomes that fulfil the commercial and strategic priorities of Yachting Australia.

Given the profile of the sport of sailing, the success of Yachting Australia’s High Performance and other programs, along with the quantum of Yachting Australia’s operations, this role is clearly one of the prized sport-business positions in Australia. Prior experience in the not-for-profit sector, including sport business, will be highly regarded, however is not considered essential.
